【埃及水中心网】NWRC President Receives High‑level Delegation from the Chinese Embassy to Strengthen Research Collaboration
In the framework of the National Water Research Center’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and expanding research and scientific partnerships, on Thursday, 7 August 2025. Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady, President of the National Water Research Center, received a high‑level delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, including Minister‑Counselor Mr. Luo Chongsheng, Second Secretary Mr. Wang Xiaoyang, and Third Secretaries Ms. Jia Fang and Mr. Liu Wenzhen, in the presence of representatives from the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology (NEIGA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Aiman El‑Saadi, Vice President of NWRC for Research Plan Affairs; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hashad, Vice President of NWRC for Research Staff Affairs; and Dr. Doaa Amin, Director of the Water Resources Research Institute.
The meeting included a review of the National Water Research Center’s 50‑year journey and its major scientific and research achievements since its establishment, presented by Prof. Dr. Aiman El‑Saadi. It also explored previous areas of cooperation with Chinese research institutions, notably Tsinghua University, Huazhong Agricultural University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), the Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydropower in Asia and the Pacific, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and Lanzhou University. Discussions also addressed future cooperation prospects, particularly in the field of capacity building through training programs organized by the Regional Training Center affiliated with the Hydraulics Research Institute. These programs aim to develop the technical and professional water sector capacities of African countries, especially those within the Nile Basin. The Chinese delegation praised the effective role of these programs in supporting international cooperation across Africa and expressed their desire to strengthen research cooperation. They also affirmed their wish to participate in the National Water Research Center’s Golden Jubilee celebration this year, as a testament to the depth and continuity of this fruitful partnership.
