Two new species of ptyctimous mites (Oribatida: Phthiracaridae), Austrophthiracarus hiore sp. nov. from New Zealand and Notophthiracarus biputeus sp. nov. from Australia, are described and illustrated. Both new species have peculiar structural modification of the notogaster, which rarely occur in ptyctimous mites. A key to all known species of Notophthiracarus in Australia is also provided. |
